My Designations
Jon has a commitment to education and learning that began in 1996 when he entered the financial services industry. He is a lifelong learner which enables him to provide exemplary guidance to his clients. Jon has earned a number of professional designations which include; Certified Financial Planner™ professional (CFP®), Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) , Chartered Financial Consultant®(ChFC®), Certified Life Underwriter® ( CLU®), Chartered Special Needs Consul-tant™ (ChSNC™),Chartered Advsior for Senior Living (CASL®), Certified Family Business Specialist (CFBS®), and Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS). He also holds his Series 7, 24, 63, and 65 securities registrations.
Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®)
Issuing Organization: Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.
Prerequisites: Candidate must meet the following requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university, and
- Three years of full-time personal financial planning experience or the equivalent part-time experience (2,000 hours equals one year full-time).
Educational Requirements: Candidate must complete a CFP-board registered program and pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination. Agree to abide by CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Rules of Conduct and comply with the Financial Planning Practice Standards
Cont. Ed: 30 hours every two years
Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®)
Issuing Organization: The American College
Prerequisites: 3 years of full-time business experience within the five years preceding the awarding of the designation.
Educational Requirements: Five core and three elective courses. Final proctored exam for each course.

Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®)

Prerequisites: 3 years of full-time business experience within the five years preceding the awarding of the designation.

Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®)
Issuing Organization: National Association of Estate Planners & Councils
Prerequisites: Candidate must meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be an attorney (JD), accountant (CPA), insurance professional and financial planner (CLU/ChFC,CFP) or trust officer (CTFA)
- Must be in good standing with their professional organization and not be subject to disciplinary investigation
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in estate planning in one or more of the prerequisite professions
Education Requirement: 2 graduate level courses administered by The American College or from another accredited graduate program as part of a master’s or doctoral degree unless applicant has 15 or more years’ experience as an estate planner. Final exam for each course which are proctored.
Cont. Ed: 30 hours every 24 months, including 15 hours in estate planning; re-certification is required annually.
Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®)
Issuing Organization: The American College
Prerequisites:
- Meeting experience requirements for The College’s CLU, ChFC, RHU, REBC, and CLF designations, or
- Advising clients on financial and/or practical matters relating to their retirement years or on issues dealing with aging for at least three of the five years preceding the awarding of the designation
Educational Requirements: Five required courses, equivalent to 15 semester credit hours

Chartered Special Needs Consultant™ (ChSNC™)
Issuing Organization: The American College
Prerequisites/Educational Requirements: Must have a minimum of three years of professional experience requirements and hold a CLU®, ChFC®, or CFP® designation, or MSFS degree. Successfully complete three required courses and also adhere to The American College's Code of Ethics.
Cont. Ed: 15 hours of PACE continuing education and recertification program
Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS)
Issuing Organization: The American College / Richard D. Irwin Graduate School
Prerequisites: Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university
Educational Requirements: Candidate must be accepted and approved by the dean of the graduate school. Candidate must take 12 graduate courses (36 credit totals with each course earning 3 credits)
Certified Family Business Specialist (CFBS®)
Issuing Organization: The American College
Prerequisites/Educational Requirements: An accredited, graduate-level program designed to broaden an agent’s knowledge and insight into the inner workings and challenging dynamics of family-owned businesses and closely held corporations. Curriculum consists of successfully completing three graduate courses.
